Overview

Crux is a personal climbing recovery tracker. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is stored, and how it is used.

Data We Collect

Crux collects the following data that you voluntarily enter:

• Training sessions — grades climbed, hold types, movement types, effort scores
• Daily check-ins — soreness levels, finger condition, pain areas
• Profile information — your name (optional), max grade, project grade
• Photos and videos — only if you choose to attach media to a session or check-in
• Notification preferences — reminder times you configure

We do not collect location data, contacts, browsing history, or any data unrelated to your climbing training.

How Your Data Is Stored

By default, all data is stored locally on your device using Apple's secure encrypted storage. Your data does not leave your device unless you choose to enable cloud backup.

Optional cloud backup: If you sign in with Apple, your sessions, check-ins, and profile are synced to a secure cloud database (Supabase) so you can restore your data on a new device. You can sign out at any time to stop syncing.

Photos and Camera

If you attach photos or videos to a session or check-in, those files are stored locally in the app's private document directory. They are not uploaded to any server unless you explicitly share them using the in-app share feature. Camera and photo library access is only used when you choose to attach media.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. Your data may be processed by the following services solely to provide app functionality:

• Supabase — cloud database provider, used only if you enable cloud backup.
• Apple Sign In — used for authentication if you choose to sign in.

Data Deletion

You can delete all your data at any time from the Settings screen within the app. This permanently removes all sessions, check-ins, and profile data from your device and, if you are signed in, from the cloud backup as well.

Children's Privacy

Crux is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Medical Disclaimer

Crux is for informational and training tracking purposes only. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. Recovery scores and readiness estimates are not a substitute for professional medical evaluation. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider for injuries or health concerns.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
